Blocked Toilets
One overflowing loo can shut the whole house down. We clear the pan, the S-bend and the branch line, then find what caused it: blocked toilets.
When steep retained slopes above Musgrave Road shift old earthenware drains, Red Hill locals call us for blocked drains in toilets, sewers, stormwater and sinks on (07) 3067 4107.
If we're late, $100 comes off your bill
Whatever is backing up, the full drain services list covers it:

One overflowing loo can shut the whole house down. We clear the pan, the S-bend and the branch line, then find what caused it: blocked toilets.

Sewage rising in a shower or floor waste means the main line is blocked. We locate it, clear it and show you the result: blocked sewer.

Yard drains and downpipes that drown in heavy rain get cleared, and we check where the water should go once the line runs free: blocked stormwater.

Slow kitchen, bathroom and laundry drains get cleaned with jet blasting or an electric eel, taking out fat, hair and silt before they harden: drain cleaning.

When the same drain keeps blocking, a camera shows exactly why, whether cracked earthenware, root entry, a collapsed section or an offset joint: CCTV drain inspection.

Pipes that crack, shift or collapse get dug up and replaced, or relined where access allows, so the fix suits the pipe and the yard: drain repairs.

Red Hill Same Day Blocked Drains is the blocked drain service for Red Hill, Newmarket and Kelvin Grove. We clear blocked toilets, sewers, stormwater lines and yard drains, and we repair the pipes underneath them.
Most of the work is in pre-1940 cottages and workers' dwellings under council character overlays, where the original glazed earthenware drains are past their first century. The business is locally owned and operated, not a franchise.

Four things cause most of the blocked drain callouts here:
The oldest cottages still run on glazed earthenware house drains, and a hundred years of renovations and shifting ground have opened and offset the sockets, so paper and roots catch.
Ground movement on the steep, retained blocks shears rigid earthenware wherever a line crosses a cutting or a wall, and the crack then packs with silt and red clay.
Grease from the kitchens along Musgrave Road, the Normanby Hotel included, settles in the flat runs of the old sewer branches between the steep drops.
Drains on the low ground near Hawthorn Terrace, Dyne Street and Jason Street cop runoff from the slopes above with barely any gradient, so heavy rain backs them up.
Drain backing up right now? Three quick checks:

Most blockages announce themselves days before they overflow:
The main sewer line is partly blocked somewhere downstream of both fixtures.
Air is being pulled past a partial blockage in the branch line, usually fat or a small root mass.
The stormwater line cannot shift the runoff, often because it is silted up or has lost its gradient.
Something is catching in the pan or S-bend, and it will grow until it blocks completely.

No two drain jobs price the same, and this is what moves the figure:
A pipe under a weatherboard floor or behind a retaining wall takes longer to reach than one in an open yard.
Deep old earthenware costs more to work on than shallow modern PVC, and repairs on the slopes can mean working from stairs and wall tops.
Fat and paper clear quickly; a root ball or a collapsed section means clearing plus a repair conversation.
Recurring blockages deserve a CCTV inspection first, because it pinpoints the cause before anyone digs.
One honest caveat: a blockage in the Urban Utilities sewer main outside your property belongs to the authority, and we will tell you straight if that is where it sits.

Red Hill's drain problems have a geography of their own. The suburb mostly missed the 1974 and 2011 Brisbane River floods; the real exposure is creek flooding along Ithaca Creek and Enoggera Creek.
Brisbane's hot, wet November to March storm season sends water down the steep red-subsoil slopes quickly, and low yard drains back up before they can clear.
Local figures put average annual rainfall at about 1013 mm, and much of it lands inside those storm months on ground that sheds it fast.

We also clear drains through the neighbouring suburbs: Newmarket, Kelvin Grove, Petrie Terrace, Paddington and Bardon. Each gets the same drain services on the same regular run.

On (07) 3067 4107, run through which fixtures are slow, gurgling or overflowing, so the plumber on the way knows where to start.

We find the cause, explain the fix and give you a fixed upfront price, and the work only starts once you agree to it.

We jet blast or run an electric eel through the blocked section, flushing the cause back out where access allows, so the line runs clean before any repair is considered.
Water runs through the line until it drains freely, and you see the result for yourself before we go.

The questions we hear most on (07) 3067 4107, with the full set on the FAQ page:
Call (07) 3067 4107Access to the pipe, its depth and material, what caused the blockage and whether a camera inspection is needed all move the figure, which you see before any work starts.
We can usually be there the same day if you ring (07) 3067 4107 in the morning, though it depends on the day's bookings, so the earlier you call the better.
The pipes inside your boundary up to the connection point are yours to maintain; from there the sewer main belongs to Urban Utilities, and a blockage in that main is the authority's job.
Wet wipes, paper towel, sanitary items, cotton buds, cooking fat and coffee grounds. In an old cottage on original earthenware drains, even thick toilet paper can catch on an offset joint and start a blockage.
A CCTV drain inspection shows the line's condition, where the blockage sits and whether it is roots, a collapsed section or fat buildup; jet blasting or an electric eel then clears it.
Ring (07) 3067 4107 with the suburb, the fixtures affected and how long they have been slow. You agree a fixed upfront price before work begins, and card and EFTPOS are accepted on the day.
Ring (07) 3067 4107 about the drain that's playing up: $0 call-out fees, no surcharge for nights, weekends or public holidays, and same-day where we can across Red Hill. Mention this offer when booking: $99 off blocked drains. T&Cs apply.
